Then we search for the active components of the purple corn: “Anthocyanin”(2920 entries since 1920), “Anthocyanin Cancer” (189 entries since 1962), “Anthocyanin-rich extracts” (32 entries since 2001), and “Anthocyanin-rich extract colon cancer” (8 entries since 2003).

I was on my 4th year of medical school, when my father referred suffering from recurrent episodes of biliary colic. Due to his persistent symptomatology, he was performed a cholecistectomy. During the immediate post-operative period, he presented with secondary ileus that urged an emergency colostomy.
We considered this event as an expected complication of surgery. Unfortunately, this was not entirely true.
As an outpatient, he attended all his follow-up visits expecting to be soon scheduled for an anastomosis procedure. Imagine our surprise, when after quite several visits to his surgeon, he told us the real cause of the ileus was an advanced colon cancer.
