El término &#8220;modernidad&#8221; tiene muchas acepciones. 
Unos podrían decir que denota la renuncia del pasado reciente, favoreciendo un nuevo comienzo, y la re-interpretación del origen histórico.
Para otros podría ser representado por el actual proceso de globalización.
Particularmente, pude percibir &#8220;la modernidad&#8221; expresado en la propensión de la tecnología para reducir el tamaño.

<div><span style="font-size: large;">La cápsula endoscópica es una manera registrar imágenes del tubo digestivo.  La cápsula es del tamaño y forma de una píldora y contiene una diminuta cámara.  Después de ser tragada, ésta toma fotografías del interior del tracto gastrointestinal.</span></div>

<div><span style="font-size: large;">Finalmente, tomé la pequeña cápsula y la deglutí sin mayor dificultad, no sin antes tomar algunas fotos de mi cara.</span></div>

<div><span style="font-size: large;">Al regresar a casa, preferí esperar hasta cumplir unas 8 horas para poder cenar.</span></div>
<div><span style="font-size: large;">Para entonces, la cápsula había dejado de emitir señales.</span></div>
<div><span style="font-size: large;">Así que pude comer con mucha tranquilidad.</span></div>
<div><span style="font-size: large;">Al día siguiente, devolví el arnés con la información para su análisis.</span></div>
<div><span style="font-size: large;">Y a las 36 horas pude eliminar la cápsula sin mayor problema.</span></div>
<div><span style="font-size: large;">Lamentablemente, no puedo publicar aun las fotos de mi tracto digestivo, pero les puedo contar que están bastante interesantes.</span></div>

<p>Hello, how are you?</p>
<p>Last month was very interesting for me. Once more I went to Musashino Higashi School. I went with some Indonesian teachers to do an observation for education for autism.</p>

This school using daily life therapy to all the autism students. Every autism students learn how to life in normal way, and how they have an interaction with the society. The school provide students with a very good facilities, like for sports, arts, music, cooking and computer technology which usually they who has autism are really good in that major.</p>

<p>What makes me so impressed is this school is a mix school between autism and normal student from kindergarten, elementary school, high school until senior high school. They also designed some quality time to mix the students so they could have a real interaction by doing some project together. The goal is how to make them helping and loving each other.<br />

NFSA scholars were given an opportunity to have an escapade in the land of tea &#8211; Shizuoka. Thanks to Akira who organized the said trip.  It was a sunny day and everyone enjoyed the travel from Yokohama.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify">
The overlooking view like the “green rolls cakes” signified that we have already arrived. Mrs. Mayo Suzuki (Vice President of Marushichi Seicha), Noboru Suzuki (Nakayama Tea Union President), and Akira Onoda (Assistant Manager for International Sales) welcomed us and gave us a warm greeting. We were very excited to explore the place and have a look in the production of tea. The thrilling part of the travel was the narrow uphill roads with Matcha trees all over the place. This kanji (茶, cha), was formed and trimmed on the mountainside by the local people in Shizuoka which is the origin of one of the best teas.<a rel="attachment wp-att-3474" href="http://www.nikkeiportal.com/nikkei/2010/06/nfsa-matcha-escapade/haru-no-kenshu-2010-049/"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-3474" src="http://www.nikkeiportal.com/nikkei/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/Haru-no-Kenshu-2010-049-500x201.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="201" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: justify">
Mr. Suzuki guided us in the process of making the matcha. He said “due to extreme heat, there were teas that have been damaged”. And identifying the damage was a bit of a challenge. According to him, a dark blue green colored tea indicates it is not good. While identifying the bad teas and looking at the wide well-shaped field of tea, this experience really seize my day.<br />
Marushichi Seicha received an honorary trophy awarded by the Majesty Emperor as “The Best Tea Producer in Japan”. Moreover, this company does not have a large number of employees yet they are able to manage. The company has well-focused goals of producing the best tea in the world that motivates them to be competitive and be the fastest growing producer of healthy drinks because of its benefits.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify">
For the Shizuoka people, Matcha is their bread and butter. The long term process of preparing, planting, picking/harvesting and pruning under the heat of the sun and rain challenged the NFSA scholars, that this signifies a lot of preparation, brainstorming, and unity of action in order to achieve a successful harvest.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify">
Mr. Masami Suzuki (President of Marushichi Seicha) visited us at the dinner party after the factory visit. He delivered an encouraging speech and spoke about the significance of being healthy. He said, “The secret of being young and energetic is by drinking tea”. A statement that made us burst in laughter.</p>

		<title>茶畑を訪問して。</title>

		<description><![CDATA[今年の春の研修は、4月29日~5月2日までの４日間を28人の留学生と共に行いました。
1日目と２日目は、横浜のJICAで、そして3日目と４日目は、静岡県で行いました。
3日目に静岡に着いてからすぐに、留学生にとってはとても貴重な経験の一つとして、日本の伝統的な茶畑を訪問しました。
静岡県に入るとすぐに、茶畑が目に入りました。
四方八方茶畑という、慣れない光景にびっくりしました。
私がブラジルに住んでいた時には、サトウキビ畑やオレンジの木が並んでいる事はありましたが、お茶は今回が初めてでした。
今回は、特別に茶畑とそして抹茶工場の見学をさせて頂きました。
抹茶工場では、抹茶が出来る過程を丁寧に説明していただきました。
様々な機会を使って丁寧に茶葉を加工するという事を改めて知る事が出来ました。
さらに、今までの抹茶を作る際の苦労や努力などをお話ししていただきました。
天候に左右されやすい生産の量や質。
それらをどう改善するのか、どのように消費者の手までおいしく届くのかなどと貴重な話を聞く事が出来ました。
日本で伝統的なお茶がどのような思いで作られているのかを知る事ができてすごく良かったです。
そしてもう一つ感心したのは、大きな畑から収穫される茶葉からおいしいお茶にするまでのグループワークの大切さを今回の見学で学びました。
私達留学生もこれからうまくグループとしてまとまって、何か少しずつ自分たちが出来る事の結果を出していければと思います。

<p>Every year during the Haru no Kenshu, NFSA scholars have the opportunity to meet JICA volunteers and exchange experiences, information and have a great time together!</p>
<p style="text-align: left">Being part of the Japanese Official Development Assistance (ODA), JICA is responsible for sending volunteers eager to make use of their skills and experience acquired in Japan to developing countries to work together with local people.</p>
<p style="text-align: left">The four major types of volunteers are the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (ages 20 to 39), the Senior Volunteers (ages 40 to 69), and the Volunteers and Senior Volunteers for Japanese Communities Overseas.</p>
<p style="text-align: left">The volunteers usually spend two years in developing countries, living and working with the local people while taking part in cooperative activities that can be included in seven fields: agriculture, forestry and fisheries, processing, maintenance, civil engineering, health and hygiene, education and culture, and sport.</p>
<p style="text-align: left">During this years´s exchange, we started the activity with a warm group dynamics, in order to introduce ourselves and know more about volunteers destination and aims.We were placed in groups of volunteers according to our country of origin, so I was in a group that everybody was going to Brazil.<br />
I was very surprised to see that everybody in my group would be going to different cities in Brazil, and in some cases, very far from the big urban centres like Belém in North Brazil near Amazon and Cuiabá, in Mato Grosso, Central Brazil, near to the Pantanal.</p>
<p style="text-align: left">The group talks was very cheerful, and the volunteers were excited to talk with us and have the opportunity to practice their Portuguese or Spanish. Some of them were really good, with great vocabulary and pronunciation!!!</p>
<p style="text-align: left">Most groups discussed the tourism spots and the typical food of each country, but some curious topics about boys-girls taste and relationships also came up!</p>
<p style="text-align: left">I really enjoyed this activity and I was really touched by the excitement and the adventurous spirit of the volunteers! It really inspired me, and gave me a new breath to my journey here in Japan!</p>

<p style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify; MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial;">The Pecha Kucha Session at the Haru no Kenshu, 2010, marked the first official work related activity of the three day reunion the NFSA scholars had during April of the present year. Its function was two fold; as a first goal, it had the intention of presenting the newest scholars (7kisei) to the rest of the group. Its second aim was to keep everybody updated on the progress all of the present scholars have made during the past twelve months in things related to their work. As it is done in the original format of Pecha Kucha, PowerPoint presentations of 10 slides with twenty second intervals were used by the scholars. The challenge is to make the presentation as swift and entertaining as possible, while keeping within the constraints mentioned above. </span></p>
<p style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify; MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial;">&nbsp;</span></p>
<p style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify; MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial;">This year, 28 scholars participated in the Pecha Kucha session, with experience as NFSA scholars ranging from 3kisei (third generation) to the newly arrived 7kisei (7<sup>th</sup> generation). Being a member of the later, the way I view this activity may be very different from the one an older scholar may have. None the less, I think that most, if not all the scholars have felt similarly to how we new “kids” felt before and during this activity or in similar ones held in past Kenshus.</span></p>
<p style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify; MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial;">&nbsp;</span></p>
<p style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify; MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial;">Since Pecha Kucha was held on the morning of the second day of the Kenshu, the night before held a bit of an aura of anticipation within the 7 kisei group. The six of us were, in some measure feeling a bit nervous (I’m guessing this, though some of us didn’t actually mention it), and somewhat shy as to what we were to say the following day. Though it did help that we already knew most of the NFSA scholars we were going to present ourselves to, there still was a bit of a tingling feeling in our stomachs as the time drew nearer to the presentations. </span></p>
<p style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify; MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial;">&nbsp;</span></p>
<p style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify; MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial;">It turned out that we were to be the first to present, the order progressing to the 6 kisei, the 5 kisei and so on. After a few initial comments were mentioned, the lights were turned off and our turn at the bat finally came. And then, a little more after 3 minutes had passed, the first of the presentations was over and the nervousness suddenly gave way to applause, laughter and expressions of awe or appreciation from the older scholars as the following people took their turn. After monologues that were a combination of some preparation and some improvisation we had gotten a chance to show everybody where we came from, where we were going and in some measure, our willingness to let everybody know who we were and our desire to know in turn, the people who were sitting in front of us.</span></p>
<p style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify; MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial;">&nbsp;</span></p>
<p style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify; MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial;">As the morning progressed, the list of scholars that were to make their presentations grew thinner, while the amount of things I learned about each of the scholars grew larger and larger. It amazed me how distinctly dissimilar most of our disciplines are. From acupuncturists and designers, to biologists and computer program developers, the variety of professionals this scholarship funds is quite impressive. It dawned on me how small an area my skills cover and how extensive human thirst for knowledge has really gone up until now. <span style="">&nbsp;</span>Maybe it is in this realization where the value of the Pecha Kucha session lies. It is a rare occasion where one can share a room and comments with such a heterogeneous crowd and be able to learn about subjects like the work being done in the insertion of dyes obtained from plants into bacteria, the manner in which an endoscopy is carried out or the value of preventive medicine, to name a few. It just blows one’s mind how many valuable endeavours are taking place in the world at this very moment without one even realizing it. </span></p>
<p style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify; MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial;">&nbsp;</span></p>
<p style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify; MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial;">As interesting as all of the subjects were, I did get to thinking once or twice about the length of the activity, or at least the way it was progressing. At times I felt it lost its momentum, and at others, I felt that tedium gripped the audience. I know that everything was prepared so that everything went as swiftly as possible. It was obvious that the presentations were practised beforehand and that the order in which they were carried out had been given a lot of thought. Even so, I did catch a glimpse of a yawn or two, a few eyes struggling to keep open and a bit of distraction. I’m sure that the curiosity to know about what all our colleagues have been up to is in all of us, but still, maybe 28 presentations in a row, even if they are 3 and a half minutes long, is too much for any crowd to take without there being a drowsy face or two. A break perhaps? Maybe next Kenshu. </span></p>
<p style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify; MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial;">&nbsp;</span></p>
<p style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify; MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial;">All in all, my feelings toward this activity are on the positive side. It really does seem like a very good way to get to know everybody. As a first timer, it helped me a lot in getting to know the “professional” side of all my friends here at NFSA. I had the impression that the Pecha Kucha session has been refined throughout at least a couple of Kenshus, and it really did show that everyone had it in their mind to make their presentations as enjoyable as possible. I repeat the value that this has for us 7kisei in getting to “break the ice” with the other scholars. In the end, how cool was it when you were the “new guy” in school and you actually got a laugh out of the kids that were there before you? Or even better, having them share a joke or story with you. This works the same way, I guess. <span style="">&nbsp;</span></span></p>

It is a small, but very rich sample of the very complex people that surround us here. It is a way to know each other, and even, when you stop to think about it, to remember a little about yourself.</span></p>

<p>     Hola todos <br />Que tal !!!!! <br />&nbsp;<br />Espero que todo bien.&nbsp;<br />En esta ocacion&nbsp;les&nbsp;escribo para contarle un poco de lo que este grupo&nbsp;tan ameno (NFSA) hizo durante su &#8220;haru no kenshu&#8221;. <br />La primera actividad que realizamos en este kenshu fue&nbsp;conocer de donde es que&nbsp;proviene los recursos&nbsp;de nuestra beca. <br /> Antes de contarles&nbsp;acerca de esta&nbsp;actividad, les explico&nbsp;de forma&nbsp;simple&nbsp;como y de donde provienen los recursos de nuesta beca.&nbsp;Buen para simplificar,&nbsp;los recursos de&nbsp;nuestra beca provienen del 3% de los ingresos&nbsp;de la empresa que maneja las carrera de botes (Shinagawa-Tokyo´s Boat Race Stadium of Nippon Foundation). Ellos&nbsp;dan este&nbsp;dinero para&nbsp;retribuir algo a la sociedad y contribuir con el desarrollo&nbsp;social; Nippon Foundation&nbsp;realiza muchas obras sociales entre las cuales esta nuestra beca. <br /> &nbsp;<br /> Ahora con respecto a nuestra actividad&#8230;.Tuvimos la gran oportunidad de poder visitar el estadio de carrera de botes the Nippon Foundation (Shinagawa-Tokyo´s Boat Race Stadium of Nippon Foundation; el estadio queda cerca a&nbsp;las estaciones de Heiwajima o Omorikaigan). El estadio es inmenso, la entrada&nbsp;era parecida a la de un hipodromo&nbsp;(una forma facil de describirlo). <br /> Nos reunimos en la entrada principal del estadio donde porfin TODOS conocimos a los shinkiseis. <br /> Luego de esperar un poco finalmente pudimos entrar al estadio donde Nippon Foundation reservo para nosotros un palco VIP (VIP Box) para poder ver la carrera de botes. La vista desde este palco era increible (en el video podran apreciar). <br /> &nbsp;<br /> Este tipo de carreras depende mucho de la destreza de los corredores y no tanto de la performance de los botes ya que los botes son pequeños y pueden ser dirigidos cambiando el peso del corredor de un lado para el otro. <br /> &nbsp;<br /> QUE&nbsp;EMOCIONANTE&nbsp;fue ver la carrerra&#8230; todos&nbsp;estaban emocionados gritando y alentando a sus corredores (fue muy gracioso tambien). <br /> &nbsp;<br /> Al final pudimos ver 2 carreras. Algunos probaron suerte y ganaron otros nos llevamos el recuerdo y la satisfaccion de haber contribuido con el desarrollo social. <p>I  went to a school which has an autism program in Mitaka. They has a  special classroom and a lot of special treatment equipment even a  special toilet for the autism children. They also invite me to do an  observation to the kids in their school. So happy for that.</p>

<p>I  also went to see a man from the overseas minister, Hamada san. He&#8217;s very  kind, and he talk Indonesian.. <img src='http://www.nikkeiportal.com/nikkei/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif' alt=':D' class='wp-smiley' />  he told me about history of Nakano.  He said that a long time ago, Nakano was a military and police academy  base. But now, Nakano changed into a shoping tourism city.</p>

<p>I had  fun with NFSA&#8217;s family in the seminar of the drawing contest exhibition.  To meet the other scholar was really charged my spirit.</p>
<p>Kotaro-kun  was also there. Hoho..He&#8217;s so cute!</p>
<p>The  last but not least..</p>

<p>I met the trainee teachers from Cambodia.  They&#8217;re so young. 20 years old. They&#8217;re so clever and has a very clear  mission in their life. To make children in Cambodia have a good  education. They said that there&#8217;re not a lot of teacher there. Young  people there prefer to be a worker or a farmer. I hope they could do  their duties as what they wanted, succsessfuly. And so do I..</p>

<p>We are happy to inform you that the applications for the “Nikkei Scholarship 2011” are open!</p>
<p>This scholarship aims to provide an opportunity to young Japanese descendants with a leading spirit, to realize their dreams and projects that contribute to the development of their country and their local society, also in pursuit of promoting a greater level of understanding between Japan and their country of origin through the fellowship in Japan.</p>
<p><strong>Applications are open from June 1 until July 31 of 2010.</strong></p>
